Seriously, I've had more luck at HT in the past 9 months than any other grocery store this year. Crazy, I know. Most people I talk to in Charleston see them as the highest priced grocery store. And yes, before coupons, they are. But coupons make ALL the difference!
Before couponing I was a Publix die hard. I never went any other place. Since I started couponing, its been another story..... I still love my local Publix store, but HT has a new found love in my heart.
In the past year, I've come to one conclusion. The higher the store's everyday prices on items, the larger the coupon value they double. In walks HT. Hello Harris, Hello Teeter! In Charleston, they double the highest value coupons each day, up to $.99. And during Super Double week's they will double up to $1.98 value coupons! Therefore, by my theory, they have the highest everyday prices. Which is true. The same item at Bi-Lo or Publix may be 20-30% less on any given day. But the biggest deciding factor between a visit or no visit is COUPONS!
So, here we are at another Super Double week. They run in 6-8wk cycles and I've been itchy for another one. Last night I was scouring my favorite HT match-up sites....Southern Savers and Homemaking Mom. Finding the list of items that I could use/need and save money on. (Side note: that is a tricky combo, things we use/need and save money. More on that later...)
And here was the reward......
Retail: $93.55
OOP: $34.53
Savings: $59.02 or 63%
Also note....ALL HEALTHY!

Looks like you got some great deals there! We have Publix, but not Harris Teeter, in my area. And no double coupons at all...

ReplyDeleteI love HT too. I would have never stepped in one pre couponing but I hate to go anywhere else!!! Sad thing is that the monthly budget is shot and we are at the very beginning of the month :)
