Decorating Ideas!

We've been in our new house about 3 weeks now.  It's not fun unpacking, but I'd say we are about 75% there.  There are two boxes of "junk drawer" items that are eyeing me in my kitchen.  I am dreading going through them!

Although its a rental, I am bound and determined to make it feel like home for us.  The "house of beige" as I like to call it does not scream FAMILY to me :)  We don't have much money to scrape together with our tight monthly budget, so I'm learning new ways to make old items new again.  Plus, finding ideas for cheap DIY projects.  Check out my gutter bookshelf post for the first completed project.

My new found love, Pinterest, has given me more ideas that I know what to do with.  It's a digital idea board for all things.  What's great, is that it will credit the original source of the pictures and ideas.  That way you are able to read a full article or how-to.  I have found a ton of great blogs this way. 

With my artist style brain, I tend to have multiple projects going at one time.  Right now its the craft closest, kitchen, screen porch, and playroom.  Three areas we live in most of the day!

 I'm really loving combos of gray right now, hence the closet colors.  Thinking about a gray, aqua, and red combo for the kitchen and sunroom.  Kind of a modern/retro feel.  Working with pretty drab wood cabinets, white appliances, and white trim in the room.  Not to mention the standard beige and gray vinyl flooring. 

Been reading lots of furniture and sewing blogs recently.  Can't wait to have Saturdays off to go garage sale hunting and thrift store shopping!
